Does raising your eyebrows give you wrinkles?

Resolved Question

Does raising your eyebrows give you wrinkles?

Just wanna know

Additional Details

I do not raise my eye brows when talking or making facial expressions. Only rarely because I have the same kind of eyebrows as Tyra Banks.

Is it only when you do it all the time that you see the effects?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

YES, my younger brother has a habit of doing that and just last week he noticed that he had 2 wrinkles going across his forehead....and he's only 13. If i were you, i'd break that habit

Btw, it's more likely you'll get them if you raise ur eyebrows a lot of the time...but doing so occasionally won't do any harm.

  • Honey take it from someone who knows. YES it does. My mother always told me this growing up and of course I didn't believe her, but now seeing is believing. If this is a habit as mine, please break it ASAP.
  • Yes it will and you may need to try some Botox to prevent these from getting worse and maybe even flatten them out completey.

When to use face wash and moisturiser? When do you use these shaving products, after or before shaving?

Resolved Question

When to use face wash and moisturiser? When do you use these shaving products, after or before shaving?

Hi.

I sometimes get confused with when a face wash should be used, and for instance, when a moisturiser should be used.

So, could you please tell me when the following shaving products should be used (In order):

1) Shaving Foam/Shaving Gel
2) After Shave Balm
3) Face Wash
4) Moisturiser

Thank you.

P.S

So please, could you just tell me the order in which it should be used, and what each of the shaving products do, what their function is.

Thanks again.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

1) Face wash- wash all the dirt from your face and helps unclog pores.

2) Shaving foam- needed in order for a comfortable and smooth shave.

3) Aftershave balm- reduces the amount of spots and irritation caused by shaving.

4) Moisturiser- restores moisture in the face that may have been removed through the shaving process, also aids in maintaining healthy looking skin.

Hope this helps, btw I think steps 3 and 4 can be interchanged, I do both after a shave, sometimes 3 first, but sometimes 4 first then 3. =]

I want rhinoplasty. Is rhinoplasty dangerous? help me out please!?

Resolved Question

I want rhinoplasty. Is rhinoplasty dangerous? help me out please!?

I am 17 years old and by nose is really very huge,it touches my upper lips. My nose is the only feature on my face that i hates.
The problem is that I am really scared of rhinoplasty (nose job) disasters. Is is dangerous and painful? Please tell me some CONS of nose job? Should I go for it?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Don't be scared! I'm 53 now and had rhinoplasty when I was 26, which I'd put off doing from age 14. It's the best thing I ever did!

The most important thing is to make sure the doctor who does it is absolutely reputable. Check him/her out online and/or in peer-reviewed journals. My doctor was a member of hospital staff of a very renowned teaching hospital. Also, he was not just a plastic surgeon but was also an ENT (ear, nose, throat) specialist, so I trusted him completely. Also check references from other/former patients.

I have to be honest and say that it did hurt during the surgery at one point (I won't go into detail in case you're squeamish!), but that was fixed immediately. I did stay overnight at the hospital and I'm glad I did, because I was sick a lot from the painkillers and sedatives. I was sore the next day, but honestly the worst part was the feeling of being really, really congested from all the packing they put up your nose. But once he took that out, it was a real relief and I felt MUCH better! After that it was merely a matter of healing. I did have black eyes and looked pretty bruised, but that lasted no more than a week, iirc.

You need to know that you won't see the full, total results for several months to a year. But I can tell you that you will see a big difference right away! I was like you and hated my nose, it was too big, but I also liked the rest of my face. I had so many people tell me not to do it ("You're fine the way you are", "It's the way God made you", etc.), but it was an older family member who finally convinced me. She'd wanted to have her nose fixed but let everyone talk her out of it, and by the time she talked with me she felt she was too old (in her 60s by then) and wished she had done it when she was younger.

Yes, it it painful, but the pain doesn't last. No, it is not dangerous as long as you make sure you have a reputable, professional surgeon. Make sure you do your research!

As an aside, I didn't get to "choose" my nose. I told my doctor that I wanted a "cute little cheerleader nose". He'd taken "before" photos of me, and showed me on the photos what he would change (this was before digital photography lol!), showing me that the kind of nose I wanted wouldn't suit the rest of my facial features and would actually look odd on me. He really knew what he was doing and was completely honest with me.

I can say, 27 years later, it's one of the best things I've done for myself and had a positive impact on my self-esteem and self-image. Did it make me perfectly beautiful? Of course not, but I didn't expect it to. I expected it to help me to be a better "me", that's all. And it sounds like that's what you're after...just a relatively small improvement on something you already like the rest of. Go for it, and good luck!

Additional Details

is it possible to wear a fake tan and get a real tan by lying in the sun with it on...

i am not the brownest person and when starting off tanning i don't want to look like a snowman...

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

The fake tan doesn't make you have a natural tan unless you go out in the sun for ages, but I do not recommend that! lols. Fake tan doesn't act as a sun screen either. If you are looking for fake tanners that don't make you look orange or streaky, I highly recommend St Moriz Fake Tan :) Its great! have been using it for almost a year now and people keep complimenting me on how healthy I look and when I tell them its fake tan, theyre shocked! You can buy St Moriz on amazon or TJ Hughes :)

  • Of course you can. There are fake tans out there where you just apply it and wait for it to take effect (generally a few hours). Unless you want to look like Jordan or have skin like a crocodile or put yourself at risk of skin cancer I'd totally go for a decent self-tan and stay well clear of sun beds. It looks just as good and you aren't putting yourself at risk of cancer and premature aging.
  • i didnt get the idea of using fake tan then lay under the sun. Using fake tan as a lotion doesnt improve anything. if just want to tan then naturally then just use tanning lotion and lay under the sun.

Resolved Question

How can i get rid of horrible blackheads? strips dont work and neither do home remedies?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Maybe exfoliating your skin would work but you may have to do this several times to loosen the embedded grease and grime and then continue to do it once a week or so to prevent further build-up.

Regular use of toning lotion after washing or cleansing may also be helpful.

If these measures are not useful, try asking your pharmacist who will be in a position to know what really works.

Hope this helps.

  • Neutrogena products are a great help.

The way you choose your everyday food and lifestyle sometimes can influence on the quality of your skin also. For example, if I eat lots of nuts or bacon my body answers with big blackheads in my face (just horrible). But not all people have the same body, you might pay attention in what you eat and see the effects in your body.

I dont disagree with previous answer about removing it by yourself, just use clean fingers and try not to hurt the skin... not always easy task.

If your oil skin really annoys you, a good Dermatologist helps. Good professionals are the best help. Depeding on the size of the problem, they are an investment that is worth it.
  • hi this sounds horrible but you have to squeeze them. the blackhead is blocking your pores and most products just dry out your skin causing more problems. If you squeeze them with a tissue and use diinfectant on them afterwards, they shouldnt get infected. washing your face after the blackheads are gone will then wash out your pores even deeper
  • iv got loads of tiny ones that i cant "squeeze out". i have tried everything, these are the thing i have tried. some of them are pretty bad but might give you some idea:
    nuetrogena wave
    blackhead remover
    blackhead scrub
steaming face with boiling water in a jug
    lemon juice on skin
    blackhead strips
    mud masks
    peel of face masks
    tee tree oil
    facewipes]
    anti black head wipes

    Source(s):

  • Hi,

Use Top Shirley Medicated Cream - it is really effective at clearing blackheads and it works really gently so it won't damage the skin around your blackheads, which makes you less prone to them.

I used to use this cream all the time when I suffered from blackheads.

    Source(s):

  • Boil the kettle, hot water in a bowl with a little tea tree oil, put a towell over your head and over the bowl so all the steam goes to your face. Stay there for about 5-10mins. Always works for me!

10pointsbestanswer what is the best body creme AND face creme AND exfoliator to use for extreme dry skin?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I'm not sure if you are looking for one product to do all this but I don't think there is one. You could have a product with multiple benefits but not one suitable for face and body if you have dry skin. I would be careful to use a more gentle facial product on dry facial skin to avoid irritation.

First off, if any of your skin is cracked or irritated, I would first use either Vaseline or A&D ointment (the clear brown kind) to heal the skin first. Apply twice a day, once immediately after cleansing and at night, until the skin is healed.

For body skin, as long as your skin isn't cracked or irritated, I would suggest an AHA body cream. The acid is a chemical exfoliator and will help smooth the skin and help the moisturizer absorb. Avon makes a great one called PLANET SPA African Shea Butter Foot & Elbow Cream with AHA. You also could use a physical exfoliator. For dry skin my recommendation would be to first put oil, bath or baby, on your dry skin, then take a body scrub and rub it gently into the skin. Take a shower with a moisturizing soap and gently wash yourself. Don't worry to leave most of the oil on your skin. Your skin will be moisturized and smooth. If you want a separate body cream I think Nivea original is great, it is really thick and wonderful. Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) works wonders too, especially if your skin is cracked.

For face you could use a cream with retinol to help skin turn over faster. A product with glycolic acid would exfoliate also. I would not use a scrub on very dry skin. Avon Banishing Cream Skin Discoloration Improver has mild retinol in it. I think ideally pick a face cream that is very rich, use cold cream if your skin is extremely dry and then use a mild peel of glycolic acid to exfoliate.

I hope I have answered your question! I am not sure if you wanted specific product recommendations or not. If you want to look for products or ask me any question you can contact me through my Avon store. http://cney.avonrepresentative.com/

No it'd be fine.
I know this seems like an odd comparison but I have my nipples piered (rings) and my boyfriend has snakebites (also rings). That causes no problems so I don't see why 2 tongue piercings would. It might even be fun :)

What is the best product to use for acne?

Resolved Question

What is the best product to use for acne?

I have quite bad acne on my face and on my back. I also have it on my chest. I have tried almost everything and nothing seems to really work. What is a really good product that i can use?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Hi,

I suffered from acne for years.

I went on the pill - it worked but as soon as I stopped my acne returned and I got oilier skin. The health scares regarding taking the pill for a long time scared me, so I decided not to go back on it.

I used ProActive - again this worked while I was using it, it was quite harsh on my skin and occasionally I had dry flaky and red skin. I couldn't afford to use this all the time, when I stopped my acne returned.

The best treatment I found was Top Shirley Medicated Cream - it was very gently, is almost like a chalky cream which I massaged into my face for two minutes morning and night. I saw instant results and even when I stopped using it the results lasted. I no longer use the cream purely because I don't have too. I highly recommend this to anyone suffering from acne.

  • If you're female and say 15+ you might want to think about a birth control pill, seeing as your acne is probably hormonal and on your body as well. There are various pills used for acne such as yaz, yasmin, cilest etc. Just don't take Dianette/Diane 35 because it can make everything 10000x worse when you come off it.
  • No joke. Products do not actully contain a spot removal formula they just contain a spot defender type formula, Well most of them do anyway.
I HIGHLY! recommend going to the doctors over your acne and they will prescribe a antibiotic spot removal. Its very very very! effective and if your a student or on benefits i believe it is free.

If you want to use home remedies, i did try the old wives tale in where you apply toothpaste to your spot leave over night then wash off in the morning. Believe it or not its rather effective. But be warned it may dry out your skin. But it didn't for me.

    Hope i Helped

What's the best way to get a natural looking tan?

Resolved Question

What's the best way to get a natural looking tan?

I tried sunbeds for about a year and didn't really see a big difference to be honest (please don't lecture me - i did this under my doctor's orders to treat the skin condition i had at the time and no longer use them) I'm fed up being really pale though, but have tried some fake tans in the past but end up looking streaky and orange. Any brands that you could recommend, or any advice at all please? Do spray tans come off on your clothes? Thanks x

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

I think the best thing to do is use gradual tanning moisturisers and spray tans.
A good make is garnier. Their lotions and sprays are good because it's never left me with a streaky tan.
Johnsons holiday skin left me a little bit too orangey/yellow and was very streaky so i wouldnt recommend that.

A good thing to do though if you do happen to get streaks is shower and wash your face and exfoliate to fade the tan and you can try again.

I know what you mean about sunbeds. I used them one summer when i was 14 and i lied about my age and said i was 16 and i got a tan quickly but hated going on them because of the cancer worries.

Good luck xx

  • I have tried every tanning moisturiser - johnsons, dove, garnier etc and the best one I found is loreal nutrisummer. I have recently discovered ambre solair spray tan which is very good. It goes on clear so you have to be careful applying it but the results are good and it hasn't come off on clothes or bed sheets. You can buy tan mits to apply more evenly or just use gloves to protect your hands.

How do people pierce noses with a Gun?

How do people pierce noses with a Gun?

Im just curious, i know the dangers etc,
i just want to know how its done
like,

what stud to they use?
how do they put the stud in the gun?
do the studs have backs?
how does the stud stay in?

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

In one of two ways:

Using an ear piercing gun which fires a cheap earring (even gold is only gold plated and can wear away when inside the piercing exposing you to the cheaper metal underneath!) into your nose and puts a butterfly back on the inside which will then collect nasties from the inside of your nose and breed bacteria - eugh!

These earrings often are pointed on the end and can cut the inside of the nose when knocked.

Using a 'special' nose piercing gun which is spring loaded so fires a special stud through at a slower rate. The stud is still blunt (however so still causes some trauma) and stil lmade from cheaper metals with a pointed end again but instead of butterfly backs they are wider at one end than the other (kind of bullet shaped) so they cant fall out. This does mean that when the healing process is over you have to pull out stud that is wider than the piercing hole (painful!) as the hole will close around the thinner part of the jewellery.

The special guns sometimes don't have enough force to get through the nose cartilage all the way - meaning the stud has to be forced the rest of the way in by hand.

In both cases the studs are in sterile plastic cartilages that are slotted into the gun and thrown away when they've been fired.

  • They use a metal silver stud and the stud does not have a back its stays in firmly for a week or so and after that is goes kind of lose so you may have to cover it with a plaster and after six weeks or so you can get a new stud with a back and put it in.
  • the piercing doesnt have a back, and it just stays there somehow.. lol i got mine done with a gun.. and id imagine it would be way better then a needle. & they just use what looks like a normal stud, but are some how different then normal ear studs.
  • for nose there is pins(i have heard they fly)easy to get in...hockey sticks(bit better)little harder to get in....screw...( hard to get it in) ...but good if u only want one to stay in ... pss..all have ball on the ends..ps when i had my nose both time a needle...sooo im not sure and all that ****
  • you put it in the grass

Does anyone find using no face wash/scrub improves their skin?

Resolved Question

Does anyone find using no face wash/scrub improves their skin?

Over the crimbo period i did'nt really bother much with my skin care routine which i usually do. I was just caught up in the hype of christmas and didnt really have time but i saw a really nice improvement in my skin. I had no spots whatsoever and usually when i use a face wash, toner and moisturiser my skin feels soft but is spotty.

does anyone else find that no products is actually better or not?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

thats because youre giving your pores a break. the same thing happens to me. however, it is still good to use a pore-cleansing facial wash occasionally (ever 2 or 3 days) to help break up dirt thats invisible to the eye. on days when your not using one, regular soap should work fine.

Other Answers (8)

  • i think it could work for normal/sensitive skin. but skin such as dry/combination/oily may need it to get rid of dry or oily areas. in the long run its better to use products because if tou ever decide to use them again you could get a reaction after not using products for so long. also , bacteria could build up over time and cause excess sensitivy or spots. i wanted to go with no products but my cousin tried and when she went back to using products she was allergic to nearly everything .
but i think it could work for a short amount of time , or people with pretty good skin anyway that doesnt need much treating. i think also it could the break from bad prodcuts that improves skin . i believe that all the skin needs are some specific gentle, natural , water based products that work for your skin type :)
  • YES!
    Sometimes anyway!

My skin looks its best if I do an extremely long and tiring skin routine (involving steaming, face masks, exfoliation, the works!) , however it looks pretty damn decent if left to its own devices!

    Source(s):

  • What face wash were you using? I don't like any that contain chemicals as they tend to block the pores in your skin and cause all sorts of problems.

I used to use everything to try and get rid of spots, all the big and top named brands.

    But the cheapest one was the best, and it may sound crazy, but here it is;

Dove soap, sensitive or normal it doesnt matter.
    Salvon antiseptic cream as moisturer.

For oily area at bedtime, use a dab of baby powder.
  • Yeah, it's better for your skin not washing it everyday, because this strips away natural oils, making your skin produce waaaay more, i.e spots.

I use a gentle cleanser ONCE a day (at night) and a light moisturiser, then wash my face with water in the morning, then moisturise again, and i get hardly any spots :)
  • I do...I find my skin looks better when it's left to itself.
I've done tests, 3 weeks without, then 3 weeks with face wash; i've repeated this about 3 times and i've found my skin it considerably better without and face wash
  • I wash my face twice everyday & yea there are days when I'm busy one night or really tired & i just skip over it & my face will feel better. I think it's good to take breaks from your facewash every once & while so that your skin can learn to heal on its own.
  • Yes washing my face with just warm water and nothing else added actually helps.

I don't use cleansers at all, but I have no running hot water in my house so sometimes I have to use cleansing wipes.
  • Same here. My skin is super sensitive, too much can provoke acne.

Eyelids different in the morning?

Resolved Question

Eyelids different in the morning?

Hi,
For some reason in the morning my eyelids look different. I have hooded eyelids I think. There is a noticeable crease and the skin above the crease isn't very thick. However I've noticed after I wake up the skin on my eyelids are bigger and the skin folds over the crease more. After a while my eyelids then go back to normal. Do you know why that is?

Additional Details

Forgot to mention that normally the skin above the crease doesn't fold over.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

Sounds like your eyelids could be puffy in the morning. This is usually due to water retention from a diet high in salty foods or you may be using your facial moisturizer or eye cream too close to the eyelids. Try a cold compress on them like a cool face cloth or cold cucumber slices!

This crap cold weather is making my skin horrible....?

Before Winter arrived my skin was fine and spot free and I never ever get dry skin, But because this Winter is really harsh this year, my skin has been dry and very spotty.

I know that it's because the dry air/low humidity. Walking into a very cold dry atmosphere from a warm dry atmosphere, (My house and other buildings that have central heating). Walking into instant Temperature changes.
And I don't know what to do about this, I've tried numerous spot products and I have been using e45 cream which has actually helped a bit.

It's just my forehead that is affected, nowhere else is for some reason.

  • I get dry. itchy patches on my lower legs, during cold weather like this too. I use a moisturiser from Lush twice a day. Also, I've stopped using the cheap shower gel I bought from the Co-op, as it listed an ingredient which it said was associated with skin irritation - can you believe it! So it might be worth looking for a gentler soap or shower gel, too.
  • I agree im getting blemishes on my face where i never usually get them.
I've used e45 but wasnt keen using it on my face it brings me out in a rash and therefore causing more spots.
Use a moisturiser called Simple. My mum has been using it for years and shes in her late 40's and her skin is great and now i use it. It has no harsh colours in it of perfume thats why i love it so much.
If you can buy the whole range the cleanser and toner.. the lot.

Hi i'm trying to figure out the typical length of a monroe/madonna bar as I want to buy a new one on ebay but don't know what the length is! I know mines a 1.2 but I can't figure out how many mm it is, does 6mm sound right? Thank you!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker

6mm is a bit small - thats usually the size of labret used in a tragus piercing.

If you're lip isn't too full i'd say an 8mm is probably what size you are on but every one is different. Best way to tell would be to take it out and measure the bar length (inbetween the balls, not including them) you can use a standard ruler as they have 1mm incriments on them!

Clear and Clean products ?

Ive been using for past 3 weeks clean and clear cream wash , and i have to say that it works amazingly. Firstly my sking feels refreshed and it completely cleans down to the pores. And my acne nearly vanished, however ive noticed that my skin end up to be very oily and shine.
I have an combination skin but ive never had that oily.
Does anyone know why it might be ?
Does anyone used this product before ?
And what are the best clean and clear products for oily skin ?

im sure the reason you are gettin oily skin is because it is cleaning your pores out. unfortunately i think it is a case of either acne free skin or oily free skin. thats just life im afraid, i hate using facemasks cos it cleans your pores, it gives me spots :/

  • Once you start shaving, you have to keep it up and it people often say it seems to make the hair appear thicker and you will notice the stubble as it is quite coarse. Personally I always use an epilator and find it marvellous! You use it much like an electric shaver, but it removes the hairs with the roots and leaves your skin soft and clean and unlike shaving, the hairs grow back gradually with no sharp ends. You do feel the stinging sensation, but you get used to it and if you are used to waxing, I am sure you will be fine with it.
  • The depilatory cream is a very common method of hair removal. At the time we are absorbed in our work, our family and friends, the depilatory creams are ideal for removing unwanted hair and get a perfect hair removal. The depilatory creams are a simple method of hair removal and it saves time and money. Just got my lip pierced, need to know about the aftercare?

Resolved Question

Just got my lip pierced, need to know about the aftercare?

The piercer told me to clean my piercing with Saline Solution 3 times a day and use mouthwash and brush my teeth and suck on ice if it gets too swollen. l have a longer bar in at the moment and my lip is swollen. Can someone let me know when this will go down and will it stop rubbing once l change the jewelery into a smaller bar?

Thanks~

the aftercare your piercer gave you is the bare minimum. you should get some mild antibiotic soap, like Dial, and make a thick soap and water solution (more soap than water) in a dixie cup. Use a Q-tip to clean around your piercing with the solution. Buy some H2Ocean from your piercer, or another piercing shop if they don't have it, and spray it on after you have cleaned the piercing. Leave it on afterward, it will seep into the piercing and continue to disinfect and clean for a few hours after. Do this 2-3 times a day. use non-alcohol based, antibacterial mouthwash(like Crest) whenever you brush your teeth or after you eat. DO NOT touch your piercing at all. that's the biggest cause of infection. don't play with it with your tongue or chew on it or anything like that, it will just irritate it more. The swelling should go down in about a week at most, then go back to your piercer and get them to change the bar out for you. if it's positioned correctly, it will stop rubbing against your teeth/gums.

Shaving head - body is super dry?

Resolved Question

Shaving head - body is super dry?

I started shaving my head and my body seems to be really dry after I shower. I don't know why. My skin is really oily but somehow it's very very dry now to the point that when I stretch myself (and hence my skin) I feel itchy all over the body.

you need to moisturise your body with body butter , cream or body lotion. it could be the weather affecting it or the water.

moisturise it and you will be fine.
