You have to be really careful about tattooing in a home. You need to call the local health department and ask them questions. The health department doesn't let you tattoo in a home here. You also have to have white tile. The sterilization process has to be a certain way also.
I'm speaking from experience. Were was doing tattoo parties at their homes and we could have got in big trouble.
As for the tattoo prices people are coming to you instead of a shop to get a deal , so give them deals but don't short change your self.
Small Japanese symbol = $50
so keep all small designs around $50
medium keep around $70 -90 and up it depends on how much designs are in the tattoo , how intricate the lines are.
large from like $120 and the sky's the limit. We did a $500 tattoo in the kitchen of a trailer on this guys whole back. Anywhere else it would have been around a thousand.

If they say that's to high and u don't want to loose that client haggle with them and get the price down some . U still will make out good.

Good luck

  • it depends on his standards, quality and ability.
has he got overheads? a shop/studio? Hygiene equipment, needles etc
being new he may have to charge less until he is recognised as tattoo artist. remember that some people are great artists but mediocre tattooists and vice versa
  • Do it at an hourly charge, the shop i use is £60 an hour. Obviously the lack of professional experience with your BF the price would have to be reduced.
