Resolved Question
Tattoo Symbols With Meanings.?
I've never had a tattoo and interested in getting one. I want it to mean something, not just a pretty design. I was thinking along the line of maybe a chinese symbol but i think they're a bit too common. If you have any ideas could you let me know please or any good websites. Even if it was a chinese symbol but not one that's really common like 'love' or 'hope'. I think they're definitely too common.
Thank you.
Btw, i want it on the base of the back of my neck so nothing too detailed because i would want it small. Only about 2" by 2".

If you want it to be meaningful, you're going to want it to have meaning to you, not me. So, you should think about it. Think: life changing events, things you never want to forget, life lessons you want to make sure you hold true to throughout life. Things you won't regret in 20 years. Honestly though, it has to come to you. If you think of a quote, dafont.com has thousands of spectacular fonts. I've also heard good things about tattoojohnny.com for designs if you want to search through those, though I've never used it myself.
For example, what I'm getting..:
I'm getting, know thyself on my left wrist, it reminds me of a past relationship that allowed me to get to know myself, and next to it a heart made of two individual pieces to show how in my relationships I need to stay my own person but still be tight with the other person.
My other wrist is going to have the phrase "I'll Note the Past" over broken glass, in honor of my best friend who died in a car accident. Obviously signifying that I won't forget, the glass shows kind of how a simple thing can shatter your whole world.
On my hip I'm going to get a broken infinity sign, signifying that nothing is infinite or permanent. Everything is relative, and will eventually change.

- you want a tattoo thats not common, yet you ask the public for ideas... i suggest think of what you meaning you want to portray and make an image have that symbolism... the meaning is what you make it so whatever you decide to get will have the meaning you want it to have...
It will be more rewarding when you think of your own idea and assign the symbolism behind it so you know that you are the only person wearing that tattoo with that meaning, cause its obviously not fun to see someone with the same tattoo you have
the only exception i would make to the "common" tattoos are the old school tattoo designs (nautical stars, sparrows, etc...) those are timeless images and as long as you respect the piece and put your twist on the meaning it'll be fun
good luck! - You need to take your time and make this personal and unique.
Here's a good article on how to get a great tattoo without regret:
