I think it's a good idea for a tattoo and it's more unique and it'll look beautiful, Beforehand though I'd get plenty of research on the hieroglyphics because you don't want to go in and them tattoo something rude or offensive on you for people to laugh at. Try some book stores they're more reliable for giving the best info on what the hieroglyphics say.

But overall if your gonna be happy with it I'd say go for it! :)

  • Ancient Egyptian names were usually written in a Cartouche. A Cartouche is an oblong box shape in which the name is written. I think if you get your name in hieroglyphics framed by a Cartouche will look significantly better than just the symbols on their own, it also marks the tattoo as being a name rather than just a group of syllables.

This tells you about Egyptian Cartouches and has some photographs:

  • I think it's a very unique idea and your tattoo is your personal preference.
If it's what you want then work with your artist to make it the perfect tattoo.

I'm 16 and I'm having my 3rd tattoo in 5 days time.... Sooo Excited!
I had my first on my hand in November, before that I spent nearly a year thinking of designs so just make sure you have clearly thought about what you want especially if you're having it somewhere as visable as your hand... I love mine!!!

Although i don't have a tattoo on my foot the tattoo on my hand hurt alot more than the tattoo on my ankle... but I suppose it depends on each person and the pain isn't enough to put me off getting more :)

Be unique and get a tattoo that represents you and get what you want- it's your body and you will live with it, so as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters :)
  • ehh...
i think it would be the same as getting something in a language you don't speak. (chinese, french, ect.)

you could never really guarantee that it says what you think it says, and it will probably just look dumb.
