How old do you have to be to get a tatoo and does it hurt?

When I'm older I want a tatoo, just a really tiny, but pretty one on the top half of my arm. Would it hurt? x

In the UK, it's 18. However, about 90% of the artists will tattoo anyone with cash lol. My little sister went in one on her own when she was 14.
As for how much it hurts, not much. But if you have a low threshold for pain, it only hurts for like the first few mins. Then it kinda goes a lil numb and you get used to it.
If your really worried about the pain, they can rub something on your skin to ease the pain.
Also, top of your arm is probably one of the least painful areas.

• u have to legally be 18 in the uk, yes they hurt! i have 2 on my hip line and they stung like a ***** lol its mostly the outline not so much the rest i have colour detail and tht didnt hurt as much as the outline. they dont hurt whilst they heal either. word of advice dont get something u think u may like as remember it is with u forever and u dont want something pernanant tht may look nice now.
• It depends on your state. Some, like mine, let you get a tattoo at 16 but you have to have a parent/guardian sign for it. Other states you must wait until you're 18 even with a parent/guardian. Most tattoo artists won't touch anyone under 16 no matter what. No it probably won't hurt unless you're really boney.
• I believe you have to be 18 or older to get it without parental consent, and it depends where you get it. I know bony places such as your ankle, wrist, and collarbone hurt more than say...your arms, legs, stomach, etc
• 18 years and it depends what part of the body but just remember a tatoo is for the rest of your life and you may regret it in later years
• hiaaaya u have to be 16 it wont hurt if ure getting on the top half of ure arm but if u were getting it on your ankle it would hurt like hell xx
