Microdermals in airports?

Resolved Question

Microdermals in airports?

I'm going to Malaysia on holidays soon with my parents,I have a microdermal on each hip,but they don't know about them.I'm afraid that they'll beep going through security, and I might be asked to remove them, microdermals are permanent though,so what if I'm refused boarding???I've only had mine a week now,but by the time the holiday comes around they're likely to have healed, and can't be taken out.I would appreciate any advice on the matter, thanks.

Go back to your piercer, and have him write you a note, explaining what a microdermal is, and if they have questions to call him. A lot of people have piercings and fly planes, they can't really deny you entry unless they feel this is a major risk.

But it is a piercing, so they can't tell you what to do. It will be ok. It isn't any different than someone having their belly button pierced.People just aren't familiar with microdermals yet tho.

  • Whether they're surgical stainless steel or titanium (mine are titanium), they shouldn't be an issue. They're only little anyway, airport metal detectors are designed to account for prosthetic limbs, braces, piercings, etc. :)
  • Just walk through the scan. If it beeps, explain what a microdermal is and provide some info if necessary.
